About me
I care deeply about creating things that make people’s lives easier. Whether it’s saving a few steps when filling out a form or populating playlists with the content someone actually wants, every little thing we UX designers do can have a positive impact.
I’ve always looked at the design world through a business lens. My college education at Carnegie Mellon University was a hybrid degree between management and design. Their program in Graphic Communications Management made sure I had a foot firmly planted in each world and understood that the things we created must both make customers happy and benefit the company’s bottom line.
Over my career I’ve worked for a number of creative agencies for clients in all sorts of industries. I’ve done just about everything in the UX space: wireframing and prototyping, crafting and executing research plans, leading UX and design teams, and running Design Sprints. In March of 2020, I completed a certificate program in Design Thinking from Cornell University. I’ve also added “mentor” to my repertoire this year, working with the fine folks over at Designlab.
Most recently, I was in-house at IHG (Intercontinental Hotels Group) leading the UX practice for their digital design team, IHG UX Studio. Unfortunately, I was only there briefly (Oct 2019 - Aug 2020) as the hospitality industry was greatly impacted by COVID-19. My projects there included optimizing their online reservation experience, incorporating a new hotel brand (Six Senses), and developing the UXers on my team.
Prior to IHG, I was at WarnerMedia for Turner Sports (since 2017) and CNN (2011-2017) in Atlanta, Georgia.
At Turner Sports I’ve worked primarily on our new direct-to-consumer sports product Bleacher Report LIVE and their esports offering ELEAGUE.
While at CNN, I was the lead digital creative for the 2012 and 2014 U.S. Elections, and helped create the CNN Politics App in 2016 in just 10 weeks! You can see more details on the things I’ve done on my Work page.
